Me elsewhere

I hang out all over the Internet.

Amazon.com Wish List: This links to my default Wish List and there’s a whole list of Lists in the left-hand column. Disclaimer: I use the Wish List function more to bookmark stuff that really interests me, except for my daughter’s Wish List, which functions more as a gift ideas list. But most of my family doesn’t send her gifts and the few people who do would rather give her lead poisoning from Chinese-made Wal-Mart toys to save a few bucks, so it doesn’t get much use. </guilt trip>

BlogCatalog: Just a place where I network with other bloggers.

del.icio.us: My bookmarks. Seriously needs organization. If you thought I was a weirdo before, you will be convinced of it now.

Digg: I’m not even that sure what this is for. I’ll get around to figuring it out one of these days.

Facebook: Less visually cluttered social networking cousin to MySpace. (I’m on there too.)

Flickr: I gave up on trying to set up an online gallery here after I started using Flickr. It saves me sooo much time, and lets me meet cool people too. (Except the freaks who obsess over photos of my daughter. I’m about to friends-protect those…)

Getting A Life: A blog I write. It’s kind of in stasis right now because I sort of ran out of steam. I’m trying to figure out what direction I want to take it when I get back to writing for it.

last.fm: I have not explored this to its full potential. It’s a music-related social networking site, but not in the same way as MySpace.

LiveJournal: Weird pseudo-blogging site with an element of social networking and a dash of “message board” thrown in. I have trouble maintaining over there because there is a hint of Eau de High School Bullshit lingering in the air, and it seems like everybody thinks they own what you write. And I’m not much better about other people’s LJs, unfortunately.

MyBlogLog: Another blogger networking site.

MySpace: If you don’t know what this is by now, you must still be sending telegrams or using a dial phone. (I was using a dial phone at work in the mid-nineties, so don’t feel bad. Army technology, what can I say?) I’m happy to report that we thirtysomething fogies are there too. I even run into the occasional fortysomething old fart. :P

Technorati: I’m not sure what this is either. I just got on it for the little bit of networking it gets me.

Travian: Browser-based war game involving Teutons, Romans, Gauls, and lots of ass-kicking. Also, free. What’s not to like?

twitter: I think this works best as a sort of static IM application. I don’t go around reporting every little thing I do, but it can be entertaining.

YouTube: Video site, blah, blah, blah. I used to have a few videos of my daughter up there but we were being stalked by her dad’s ex-girlfriend/housemate and the housemate’s mother. I might do it again behind a friends filter.
