I was born in 1974 into a Navy family from south Louisiana. By the time I was eighteen I had lived in three nations and five states and had racked up a Presidential Academic Fitness Award, one of the top two scores in the Talent Identification Program in the state of Missouri for the '86-'87 school year, first place in a local 4-H Club poster competition for the '90-'91 school year, and a first-place art show ribbon at Munford Celebrate in Munford, Tennessee, also in 1991. I graduated high school with a C average and did not know what to do with my life, so joined the Army in a last-ditch effort to get college money. I didn't get the college money, but I did pick up a bad marriage. Eventually I got into college on a Pell Grant and a loan and made dean's list my first term. Three guesses as to what happened next, and the first two don't count.

Basically my life is one long sordid saga of self-sabotage. It's laugh or cry.
